Daily Maintenance Guide for Behind-the-Ear (BTE) Hearing Aids

Behind-the-ear (BTE) hearing aids are essential tools that help you hear the world more clearly. To ensure they perform well and last longer, it's crucial to take care of them daily. Here are some simple and easy-to-understand maintenance tips to keep your hearing aids in top condition.

1. Clean Your Hearing Aids Daily

Every night before bed, gently wipe the surface of your hearing aids with a dry, soft cloth to remove sweat, dust, and earwax. Avoid using water or cleaning agents, as these can damage the internal electronic components of the hearing aids.

2.Regularly Replace Ear Tips

Ear tips can accumulate earwax over time, which may affect sound quality. Check the ear tips weekly and clean or replace them as needed. If the ear tips become hard or discolored, they should be replaced immediately.

3.Keep Them Dry

Moisture is the "enemy" of hearing aids. Always remove your hearing aids before bathing, swimming, or in the rain. After removing your hearing aids each night, place them in a special drying box to ensure the internal components stay dry and extend their lifespan.

4.Properly Replace Batteries

When your hearing aids indicate low battery, replace the batteries promptly. Make sure your hands are clean and dry before handling the batteries to avoid damaging them. After use, slightly open the battery compartment to help prolong battery life.

5.Regularly Check the Sound Tube

The sound tube in BTE hearing aids is the channel that transmits sound and needs to stay clear. Regularly check the sound tube for moisture or blockages. If any issues are found, clean or replace the tube promptly.

6. Store in a Safe Environment

When not in use, store your hearing aids in a dry, cool place, away from direct sunlight or heat sources. It's recommended to keep them in a special hearing aid case, which protects the device and makes it easy to carry.

7.Regular Maintenance and Servicing

Every three to six months, visit a professional hearing aid service center for a comprehensive check-up and maintenance. Professionals can clean the internal components of your hearing aids, ensuring the device always functions at its best.

By following these simple maintenance steps, you can keep your BTE hearing aids in excellent working condition for a long time, helping you hear and experience the world better. Remember, careful maintenance is the key to extending the life of your hearing aids!
